MY BACKGROUND

I am a member in good standing (#003694) of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT).
MY BACKGROUND
My name is Marjorie Lewis. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), having graduated from the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy in Toronto, in 2011.

I meet with my clients at my home office near Picton,
Prince Edward County, or in my virtual office on a secure medical platform, according to their preference.
When we are facing significant change, or when we cannot seem to make change happen, or when we feel unable to accept our circumstances, our relationships, or even ourselves; these are times when psychotherapy is an invaluable tool.
PSYCHOTHERAPY
Psychotherapy is regular, accompanied self-inquiry.
It takes place in the context of conversation, usually once a week, one hour at a time.

Kindness, curiosity and compassion are the backbone of any therapy. A good therapist also brings patience, skilled observation, and life experience beyond their training to each hour with their clients. Whatever the nature of your struggles or concerns may be, I offer these.
Every therapy is unique, conducted respectfully and collaboratively.
I have named my practice PSYCHE/SOMA (mind/body) because I came to psychotherapy from a background in bodywork - and because these two elements of life do seem to persist in turning up together. Thirty years of hands on experience taught me that the body is unfailingly wise; symptoms serve as guides to understanding and healing. Tuning the ear to them - without fear or judgement - rendering them useful rather than simply troubling, is often a part of psychotherapy. Your physical self, with its history and all your feelings about it, can be as much a part of our conversation as you wish or need it to be.
Open, honest, directed conversation consistently leads to insight. Being seen by another provides the opportunity to see one’s own self in new and occasionally surprising ways. Truly understanding how we have come to be who and where we are in life provides an anchor in the process of change; it allows us to gradually shed what we no longer need and to move toward what is more useful.
